mIRC v6.12 has been released to address a remote vulnerability found recently, capable of crashing your mIRC. The vulnerability affects versions of mIRC from v6.0 onwards, so it is highly recommended that you upgrade to mIRC v6.12 mIRC 6.12 (32bit). The Undernet Routing committee have linked a new server to undernet on July 23, 2002, one sponsored by Tiscali Be.

The server name is: Elsene.Be.Eu.undernet.org

To add this server to your current mIRC Configuration, do the following:

• Open up your mIRC Program
• Select File/Options/Connect
• Next to the IRC Servers section, select Add
• In Description, type: Undernet: EU, BE, Elsene
• In IRC Server, type: Elsene.Be.Eu.undernet.org
• In Group, type: Undernet
• Click ADD
• Then click Sort
• You should now see the server listed under the Undernet group of servers
• Good Job :)

Several more or less annoying bugs have been fixed; (for a full list, check here What's New)

• A memory handling bug which may have caused mIRC to crash in situations where it wasn't able to allocate memory,
• a bug with mIRC not saving certain settings on exit, including /notify command line changes, as well as server settings, ignore thingies, etc,
• a tab key nick completion bug,
• a window tiling bug when a maximized window was closed while auto-tile/cascade was enabled,
• the on keydown/keyup events in custom @windows not handling some keys,
• editboxes that limited the amount of text that could be entered,
• the "* Disconnected" message not being displayed in channel window in some situations,
• a problem where mIRC was not using the system default for browser/email programs,
• a small problem where the nick in a channel/query window titlebar not being updated on a nick change if the "Show nick in channel/query titlebars" option was enabled,
• ...and lots of other things are improved or fine-tuned after user feedback, your feedback!

Important Notice:  Because of a security risk with all prior versions of mIRC, everyone is strongly encourged to download the new version 6.01 to ensure a safer chatting experience. Some of the other more notable changes are listed below:

•  Improved the way /dcc get works, now also allows you to redirect a file to any folder.
•  Added /notify -l switch to list notify entries.
•  /channel request now has a time-out again.
•  Added WMA/OGG support to sounds dialog, /splay and /sound commands,
•  Added new identifiers: •  Added Trusted Users list to DCC Auto-get options dialog
•  DCC chats now display the time the connection was initiated in the DCC Chat Session line.
•  Popup menus now allow menu headers without a sub-menu.
•  The control dialog lists, ie. ignore, voice, protect, op, are now stored in a control.ini file, separate from mirc.ini.
•  It is no longer possible to enter editbox commands that begin with an $identifier or %variable. (with this new version //$decode wouldnt work)
•  mIRC now prevents a chat/query window from being closed if it receives a message just as you click the close button. You need to click the close button twice within a few seconds of the last message to close the window.
•  Extended /ignore, /protect, etc. handling:
It's a new mIRC full of many changes -- too many to mention them all here. Give it a try! Be safe!
